OVERVIEW
Individual lessons in a wide variety of instruments and voice are offered. Whether you are a serious music student, wish to upgrade your technique or are a complete beginner, we have the instructor for you!
All ages and skill level welcome from beginner to advanced. All our instructors are highly qualified, caring professionals.
Most instruction is held on a weekly basis in the studios in the new Nanaimo Conservatory of Music building on Selby Street, in downtown Nanaimo. A few teachers use their studios off campus.
Scheduling is arranged with the individual instructors by mutual agreement.
Registration must be completed before lessons begin.
SUZUKI VIOLIN, PIANO, FLUTE & CELLO
Based on the philosophy of music education developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, the Suzuki method of teaching music is based on the idea that musical ability can be developed in us all. The "mother tongue method" using the principles by which children learn their native language ensures that the potential for every child is unlimited.
Through a cooperative relationship between the teacher, the parent and the child these programs provide an enjoyable learning experience both in the studio and at home as well as a unique opportunity for parents to develop a special relationship with their child through the mutual experience of learning to play an instrument.
Group lessons are an integral part of the Suzuki approach. Once every two weeks a group lesson will be held where the children can learn from each other, playing with and for each other in a fun, relaxed setting.
Suzuki programs run from September to May and are priced monthly. The monthly fee includes weekly individual lessons, bi-weekly group classes, and master classes as scheduled. Piano students also pay an annual library fee of $10.
