Supporting the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is a great way to support music education in the Central Vancouver Island area. The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music is a not-for-profit registered charity and relies on community support to deliver its programs to music students of all ages. Our motto is "Music for Everyone!" and we aim to make music education available to all.
Recently we set up a new scholarship program called the "Joie de Vivre" Scholarship with a lump sum donation from a donor. We invested that contribution and will now be able to offer a $100 scholarship every year in perpetuity! Just one example of how we make your contribution work to support students in their musical journey.
The following sponsorship opportunities are examples of what we have available. If you would like more information, please contact the Conservatory at 250 754 4611 and we would be pleased to discuss how to best make your support match your sponsorship goals!
EVENT SPONSORSHIPS
The Nanaimo Conservatory of Music presents a number of events each year. Our events run from small recitals by our students to major gala events like our “Solo Piano Gala.” Each of these events can be sponsored, and because of their varied level of visibility and differing markets, there is a sponsorship level for every budget!
SOLO PIANO CONCERT and SHOWCASE CONCERT
· These are the Conservatory’s signature events! The concerts are held at the Port Theatre and are attended by a wide ranging public. The Solo Piano Gala audience demographic is generally at the higher end of the annual income scale, educated and mature; the Showcase Concert demographic is made up mainly of Conservatory families and friends, spanning both age and income bracket demographics.
WINTER RECITAL; SPRING RECITAL AND AWARDS CEREMONY; SUZUKI WORKSHOP
· These events are smaller in scale than the ones outlined above, yet give great opportunities for visibility.
MINI RECITALS AND SPECIAL EVENTS (various dates throughout the year)
· Our Suzuki, lever harp and orchestra programs host mini recitals and events throughout the year. Each are available for sponsorship. These events are attended by Conservatory students and their families.
Sponsorship Benefits For Events
Benefits are matched with the level of participation you choose for your company. Which means that if your sponsorship is at an upper level your visibility and opportunities are at the highest level.
· Logo placement on our marketing materials
· Mention of your partnership at the event
· Signage at the event
· Mention and/or advertisement in the event program (if applicable)
· Tickets to the event
· Invitation to the post-event reception (if applicable)
· Mention of your partnership in one issue of our monthly newsletter
PROGRAM SPONSORSHIPS
Our various programs at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music are attended by our student body of over 500, which means that the population that is directly exposed to your company is several times that! Sponsorship of one of our programs means that your contribution will help us offer the best possible program at the least possible cost. Sponsoring a program at the Conservatory makes good business sense too, because the visibility for your company is directly aligned with our marketing efforts – a cash and in-kind budget in excess of $20,000!
SUZUKI PROGRAM
· Our Suzuki Program is one of the three most highly subscribed programs at the Conservatory. Students in this area study flute, cello, piano or violin. Specifically designed for the youngest of children, this program engages families in it’s bi-weekly group programs and each instrument area hosts a concert (and sometimes two). The concerts are available for sponsorship separately but sponsors of this program will be given the same visibility as the concert sponsor.
CONSERVATORY FIDDLERS
· Another of our highly subscribed programs, the Nanaimo Fiddlers started with 3 students and have grown to over 50. The advanced level fiddlers play concerts in support of bursaries for Vancouver Island Fiddle Camp. Sponsorship of this group means signage and heralding at all Nanaimo Fiddlers concerts.
NANAIMO YOUTH CHOIR
· The Nanaimo Youth Choir (Junior Choir and Concert Choir) is another highly visible program in our community. Both choirs perform several times throughout the year. More than 45 students participate in this program. Sponsors of the choirs will receive visibility at all Nanaimo Youth Choir events. Logo placement on the poster and brochure and tickets to the choirs’ concerts!
MUSICAL THEATRE
· A great way to get involved with the Conservatory is by sponsoring the Musical Theatre program! Directed by local phenomenon, Katy Bowen-Roberts who produces the “Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular” every year, this program ends with a full junior production of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” at a local theatre.
KINDERMUSIK
· This program is specifically designed for babies and toddlers and is directed by Nicole Arendt (Miss Nicky). Sponsorship of this program is best for companies that have a product or service to market to new parents.
ORCHESTRAS
· There are two orchestras at the Conservatory. The Children’s Orchestra is for players who are at the intermediate to advanced level and the Foundation Orchestra is for adults at any level of ability. These groups meet once per week and have at least one performance per year.
FLUTE AND RECORDER ENSEMBLES
· Flute and recorder ensembles directed by Cindy Speelman are very good value for your sponsorship dollar as these ensembles play regularly at malls and for special events. Visibility will include signage at all ensemble events!
BUILDING, GROUNDS and EQUIPMENT
Sponsorships are available for companies that would like to support our building, equipment and operations. Naming opportunities may be available for larger sponsorships. Posted recognition on our donor wall in the lobby of the Conservatory, along with a tax receipt for your contribution are two of the specific benefits associated with this sponsorship. In-kind contributions will be given the same recognition as cash.

RAFFLE DONATIONS
· Each year we run a raffle. Donated prizes have come from a variety of sponsors including Accommodations, Air Lines, Tour Operators, Golf Courses, and Restaurants. We offer visibility through each selling location as well as mentioning our sponsors on our blog and a thank you in the newspaper. The raffle generates over $2500 in sales each year.

MEDIA PARTNERSHIPS
· The Conservatory has been offering music lessons in Nanaimo for over 30 years, but without much visibility. Our media partners will help us get the message out about how great the study of music is for your children and for the community! Visibility for media partners is based on the level of contribution.
INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTIONS
· Many people make strictly philanthropic contributions to the Conservatory. All donors receive a variety of personal benefits and a tax receipt for the full amount of your contribution.
