Nanaimo Youth Choir
About the Program
Nanaimo Youth Choir The Nanaimo Youth Choir invites boys and girls aged 5 to 19 to join its vibrant community of young singers. Under the expert guidance of Marian Smith, who has led the choir for over 30 years, the group has consistently achieved top honours at the Upper Island Music Festival and provincial competitions. In addition to local performances, the choir has travelled across B.C., participating in festivals and choral workshops.
They also perform in recitals for the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music, enriching both their musical journey and the community. Joining a choir offers a range of benefits that go beyond just learning to sing. It helps develop vocal technique and musicality in a supportive environment, allowing singers to improve their skills with guidance. Choir members also build confidence through group performances and collaborations, while enhancing teamwork and social skills by working closely with their peers. Additionally, choirs provide opportunities to perform locally and travel to festivals, broadening both musical and cultural experiences, and making it a rewarding journey for personal and artistic growth.
