Hannah Chua
Harp
Hannah Chua has lived in the Cowichan Valley since age five, where her passion for music began with the violin at six. She gained her first teaching experience at the Valhalla Suzuki Institute and later expanded her musical journey by learning the harp under Marilyn Rummel, joining the Vancouver Island Youth Harp Ensemble. In middle school, she played violin in the school orchestra and was the youngest member of the Cowichan Camerata String Orchestra.
In high school, Hannah honed her harp skills at the Gulf Islands School of Performing Arts, collaborating with diverse musicians, composing, and performing in various settings. She studied the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum for harp, violin, and theory, and recently won the Winter Harp’s 30th Anniversary Harp Competition, performing as a guest artist on their 2023 tour. She continues to assist the Harp Ensemble and is excited to join the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music as a student harp teacher.
