
Liam Pistor
Clarinet, Piano
Liam grew up in Nanaimo, where he studied piano, clarinet, and voice, and participated in several choirs, including the Nanaimo Youth Choir and the BC Boys Choir. He accompanied various choirs on piano and played clarinet and tenor sax in several bands and orchestras, including the Greater Victoria Youth Orchestra. Liam earned a Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the University of Victoria and a Master of Music from the University of Western Ontario, focusing on piano performance but also studying clarinet. He later completed a Diploma in Music Performance at UBC, studying under Jose Franch-Ballester. Liam has received numerous scholarships and awards, including a Canada Graduate Scholarship, and sixteen UVic scholarships, a UWO fellowship and scholarship for having “the most outstanding record of performance and academic work” of a student entering the MMus program, a Canada Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC), as well as two UBC music scholarship, and has over a decade of experience as an accompanist and church music director.
