Scott Knight

Piano, Guitar

Starting his musical journey at the age of six, Scott has accumulated over 45 years of piano experience and more than 30 years of teaching expertise. His extensive education in music includes studies at Capilano University, the University of Victoria, and the University of British Columbia as a classical pianist and accompanist. Additionally, Scott spent two seasons at the N.U.O.V.A. School for Advanced Studies in Opera at the University of Alberta, where he studied Vocal Coaching and Conducting under renowned professionals such as Nico Castel, Michael McMahon, Carol Isaac, and Tracey Dahl.


He has also honed his skills in Conducting and Musical Direction at Tapestry New Opera in Toronto.  Scott’s diverse career in Opera and Musical Theatre includes notable collaborations with UBC Opera, Vancouver Academy Opera, Burnaby Lyric Opera, and Vancouver Opera. Highlights of his career feature acclaimed productions of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville and La Cenerentola, as well as Marriage of Figaro and La Boheme. He served as Pianist and Co-Musical Director for the Courtenay Youth Music Centre for five years, Music Director for the Capilano University Theatre Society for two years, taught musical theatre at the Gateway Theatre Academy for one year, and contributed to Arts Umbrella for three years. His exceptional achievements in musical direction earned him two Jessie Richardson Award nominations for his work on Skycorner’s Falsettos and Patrick Street’s Into the Woods. Scott has also collaborated with the Vancouver Playhouse, Royal City Musical Theatre, T.U.T.S., Firehall Theatre, and many other esteemed institutions. 


Beyond theatre, Scott has enjoyed a prolific recital and freelance career. He has toured with the Canadian Tenors and Romanza and has appeared as a guest artist with the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra.


In addition to his performance and teaching career, Scott has been a dedicated piano technician for over 20 years, servicing pianos for various institutions throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
